Izmir Courtyard House

Rather than a garden facing outward, this house turns inward around a planted courtyard that every principal room opens onto. The typology is a deliberate reference to older Aegean houses in the region, adapted for a contemporary family of four.

Deciduous planting in the courtyard shades the surrounding rooms in summer and lets low winter light reach the interior once the leaves drop.
