Karaköy Loft Restoration

This apartment occupies the top floor of a 19th-century warehouse building in Karaköy, registered with the Preservation Board (koruma kurulu). The brief was to restore the original brick vaulting and timber structure while making the space livable as a full-time residence.

Every intervention visible from the street elevation was reviewed and approved by the board; changes inside the envelope — a new mezzanine, updated services, insulation brought up to current standards — were designed to be reversible.
